Unbelievable!

I cant wait to tell everyone what happened today. We got there later today then usual. Mom had been there all day but I hadnt spoken to her so we got quite a surprise. Richard was sitting upright (assisted by the bed) with his eyes wide open. This time he was tracking though. He would follow you around the room with his eyes. Then Phil walked up to him and Richard held up his right hand and put it on Philip's shoulder. Then he walked his fingers around Philip's back, pulled him in for a hug, then patted him on the back. Then he smiled!!! I was so excited. My mom said he had done it earlier also we just didnt know. Mom said Richard did the same to her but also stuck his finger in moms ear!!! He smiled a couple more times. He also showed his teeth to the nurse. He must not like her. He gave me a hug also, then he pushed me down. We all laughed!! He is still on the ventilator but hopefully he'll be off of that soon.
Christie rested all day. I was told that she has a gag reflex now which is new. She moved her eyelids around when I was in there. She also responds to painful stimulus in all 4 extremities. Little Phil sat with her for a little bit. We were hesitant to bring him there but he handled it well. He cant wait to visit tomorrow and neither can I.

That is great news. I have been one of Christie's very close friends for a few months and this is just the best news all week. But I'm still hoping for the best but I know that if worst comes to worst then I think that it would be best to let her go.... that was really hard for me to say . May God watch over her.. I love you sooo much Christie!

That's good that she is moveing about with her eyes and reacting to pain, i hope she does better and gets better and hopefully is so much better that hopefully we (the kids that cry over what school tells us) came see her, and know if she liked our gifts. We are geting another basket for her, please don't (if you have to) make THAT move

Hello to each of you. My name is Mary and I am Christie's Mamaw(grandmother).
I just wanted to say thank you to our friends who have so been so faithful and have prayed and called and just been here for us.
Unfortunatly Billy and I can't go to Fl to see about Christie ourselves because of my husbands health.
We, like many of you have to depend on what people are telling us from the hospital. And of course I can always count on Becky for an accurate update. According to the nurses who so faithfully attend to Christie's needs there has been no change. Christie is still in a coma and on life support. At first it was an induced coma to help her rest. Now it is just because she can't breathe on her own without the machine. She does react to the painful stimulus and she may be moving her eyes underneath her eyelids. She has not opened her eyes or made any moves on her own without the stimulus. Becky told me just now that Christie did attempt to move her thumb while Becky was holding her hand. However she isn't sure if she tried to move it on her own or if it was just a reflex.
Please keep praying that God will direct Becky in the decisions she has to make in the best interest of her baby girl. Love Mary
