Manatee Hospital

We picked up Lee this morning and went over to MMH to see Richard. As I said before, they took him there yesterday for a feeding tube. They chose not to do it because they would have to put him to sleep and intubate him again. Then we would be back to square one. Instead they did a CT of his head ( not sure why, but Richard said its because he fell out of bed) and a bedside swallow test last night. He passed the swallow test. He spent the night and this AM they did a endoscopic swallow study which he also passed. He did great with thick liquids but only okay with thin liquids. So when we got there, he was able to drink orange juice nectar (thick) and he did great. Now they have upgraded him to a soft food diet like applesauce, pudding, etc. He loves Morphine, asks for it all the time. We tell him no, he's fine. He actually held off for 6 hours without it. Once he got it, he fell asleep and we left. He has great conversation. However if you ask him questions about his past, he is very confused. But he is trying to remember really hard. We'll see Christie tomorrow becasue Lee is going back to Hawaii in the morning.
